The National Capital Caesar

A brand new boutique hotel just opened up in the heart of Ottawa’s Byward market called Andaz. Andaz focuses on celebrating all Canada has to offer and honoring our rich culture. Within Andaz is their brand new restaurant Feast + Revel which is ran by Ottawa native Chef Stephen La Salle. Chef La Salle is a graduate of Algonquin College’s Culinary Program and previously the Chef at Albion Rooms. Chef La Salle also took part in Ottawa’s Gold Medal Plates competition in 2014. Feast + Revel will serve New Canadian Cuisine that is inspired by and focused on local ingredients that are organic and sustainable. To celebrate the restaurant’s opening, they wanted us to share their signature cocktail created by Chef La Salle, the National Capital Caesar.

Ingredients
-1.75oz Top Shelf Vodka from Perth
-0.25oz Leyenda Organic Mescal, to impart a touch of smokiness
-A few dashes each of hot sauce and Worcestershire
-A squeeze of fresh lemon
Walter Craft Caesar Mix
-Ketchup Chips
-Dulse Seaweed

Method
-Add all ingredients into a shaker tin with ice.
-Roll the mixture (pour back and forth between two tins) to chill and dilute
the drink to proper levels.
-Rim the glass with ketchup chips, Dulse seaweed and a mixture of
preferred spices.
-Pour into glass.
-Garnish with a celery stick and a lemon wedge. Enjoy!
