For the last few years, craft beer has a big part of the alcoholic beverage market in North America. However’ cider is faster growing. According to the LCBO report from 2015-2016, craft beer sales saw an increase of 35% but cider sales jumped an astonishing 54%. As Canadian’s gained a greater appreciation for it the Cider Festival was created to honor this fast growing, finely crafted beverage. Toronto Cider Festival had it’s inaugural event September 2015 selling out with a whopping 2800 attendees. This year the event is being held at Sherbourne Common in Toronto on August 26th and is expecting to host 3500 cider lovers. Canucks in the Kitchen is excited to check out the event this year!
What can festival goers expect this year? A lot of the same love of Cider and much much more. This year they’re going BIG to celebrate Canada’s 150 years. The festival will have 28 vendors from across Canada slinging 70 different ciders, including Flying Canoe, Collective Arts, Strongbow and many more. Guests can also expect live entertainment, International Cider Awards, A Food and Cider pairing session, Artisanal Market, interactive game zone, flair Bartending competition and awesome contests for a chance to win a trip to Prince Edward County and Vancouver BC. This is a must see event if you’re a cider lover or want to know more about this tasty beverage. There are 3 options you can choose from for the day:
- Session 1 (11:30AM-4PM)
- Session 2 (6PM-10:30PM)
- VIP Exclusive Hour with Access to Session 2 (5PM-10:30)
